8:30 Heading towards Higüey, passing through villages and Dominican schools
11:00 We arrive in Higüey and visit the Cathedral of La Altagracia
11:00 We head toward a cocoa and coffee cultivation fields where our guide will explain the whole elaboration process
12:30 We visit an authentic Dominican house and we learn all the process of elaboration of tobacco, from plant picking to processing and packaging of cigars, and of course, being able to test samples
14:00 Horseback ride
15:45 We head toward Macao beach to enjoy a swim in its turquoise Caribbean waters

In our comfortable trucks, we leave behind Punta Cana, and slowly start heading toward the beautiful City of Higuey, the largest city in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic. Our first stop will be made at a local school, where our Safari carries out a community project to help benefit of the basic education in several villages around the area. In addition we will visit one of the most famous churches in the country, the Cathedral of Higüey, dedicated to Our Lady of Altagracia, the patron saint of the Dominican Republic.
Passing by the Eastern Mountains at about 900 feet above sea level, we pass through fields and several plantations, until arriving to the ranch where we teach you the production and processing of several typical Dominican products; cocoa, coffee, tobacco and Mamajuana (aphrodisiac drink of the Dominican Republic).
A quiet horseback ride
Our horseback ride is located atoneofour typical dominican ranches with amazing views. On the way back we will go to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean (declared by UNESCO), Macao Beach, where you will be able to take a nice swim ortake a small napin the shade of a palm tree, enjoying its natural beauty.
The bus will pick you up around 7. Depending on your hotel, pick up may vary between 7 and 8 in the morning.
Do you have to walk a lot?
Not too much, you will be on board a comfortable bus, this is why this tour is ideal for both the elderly and children.
How will I be able to buy local products?
In each one of the stops we will make during the Safari tour you will be able to buy authentic Dominican products. For example, in the tobacco factory you can buy cigars, and chocolate (derived from cocoa and organically crafted chocolate bars).
What to wear?
Cool and comfortable clothes and shoes and a swimsuit, if you want to swim in the beaches of Macao.
How large can groups get?
The maximum capacity of each truck is for 26 people, so that the groups don’t exceed never that figure.
